Detoxification: “Getting rid of any and all offending toxins inside of the body”.
Proper liver function is vital for a healthy body, and a healthy body is crucial for weight-loss. The liver performs over 400 functions, one of its most important jobs being ensuring toxins are safely removed from the blood. After the liver filters the blood, it transforms the toxins into safe substances to be excreted out of the body in your urine or into bile for elimination through the colon. If the liver does not have the correct support to do its job, or is inundated with too much work (toxic exposure, poor dietary choices, medications illness etc.) it gets backed up and sluggish. Toxins are not able to leave the body, and are stored in our fat tissue where they will stay until liver function improves, and they can be released safely. It’s important to understand that while your liver is busy handling all of these toxins, unstable and extremely toxic byproducts are produced. This toxic waste can attack and injure the liver leading to allergies, fatigue, bad skin, weight gain, low energy, constipation, PMS, toxicity and disease! So now you can see why a healthy functioning liver makes for a healthy functioning metabolism that can properly process foods. Toxins from both within our bodies and our environment can contribute to obesity. Hence, eliminating toxins and boosting your natural detoxification system is an essential component of long-term weight loss and a healthy metabolism.

What causes liver toxicity?
Liver toxicity can be caused by a number of issues: toxins and heavy metals, drugs, a diet high in processed foods, sugar, excess protein and simple carbohydrates, industrial seed oils, food additives, and even lack of exercise. All of these perpetrators allow for an increased toxic burden to build up. So now can you see why when your liver is under stress fat burning is not a priority?
