The study saw 60 volunteers drink 500ml of ‘Pomegreat Pure’ every day for two weeks. At the end of the study researchers concluded that the daily consumption resulted in a notable reduction in the level of the stress hormone cortisol in saliva and also saw a reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in all participants.
The participants were also less likely to describe themselves as distressed, guilty or nervous when compared with the beginning of the study and most experience a reduction in their pulse rate.
Dr Emad Al-Dujaili, lead researcher at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh where the study took place said: ‘On the basis of these findings there is a justified argument for busy workers to drink pomegranate juice to help alleviate chronic stress and maintain good health.
‘It is very rare indeed for an all-natural juice to offer the range of health benefits that we are seeing in pomegranate juice.’ She added.
